How To Remove Toxins From Water [The 3 P's]

We’re talking about water today. What do you need to know about the quality of the water you’re drinking and how to remove toxins from water?
Contents of Water
There are 250 known toxins (even carcinogens) in our water supply. Here are just a few to start:
- Flouride. Fluoride is a major issue in our water. A class-action lawsuit against our government for putting fluoride in water because of the known detrimental effects on brain function and the correlation between the amount of fluoride in water, and lower IQ in children.
- Drugs. Another huge problem is people flushing their pharmaceuticals down the toilet because it ends up in our water supply.
- Chlorine. Yep, the same stuff that’s used to disinfect your swimming pool is in your drinking water in an effort to clean it.
- Lead. Corroded pipes that water flows through are capable of leaching lead into the water supply.
Dehydration
Our body is made up of up to 70% water! You need to be drinking half your body weight (in ounces) of water per day to hydrate your cells. Some signs that you may be dehydrated:
- Hunger. When cells are dehydrated, they send a signal to the brain – but we often mistake that signal for hunger.
- Fatigue. Cells don’t have what they need to energize the brain and muscles.
- Blood Flow. When you’re having circulation issues, the cells may be dehydrated and can’t function within the blood the way they’re meant to.
- Urine Color. If your urine it’s a darker color, not very clear, or has an odor – you may not be getting enough water.
Now that we know why it’s important, let’s go over the 3 P’s of healthy drinking water and how to remove toxins from the water!
1. pH
pH is referring to the alkalinity vs. acidity balance. In the 1900s, Otto Warburg was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize due to his work regarding the oxidation of cells. He essentially found that cancer is the deprivation of oxygen in a cell. The level of acidity or alkalinity actually drives this oxygen consumption. A lot of us are very acidic due to our daily diets of sugar, processed foods, sodas, and coffee.
Absorbing Water
You’re not what you drink – you’re what you absorb. The best way to drive water into a cell is by having a diet rich in greens. Adding greens powder to your water is a great way to get the cells to absorb it much easier.
Alkaline Water
We want to make sure the water we are drinking is not adding to our already acidic body! You’ll want to look for water with a PH level greater than >7. Bottled water, like spring water, will typically be more alkaline. We even tested some common brands to find out which was the most alkaline. Take caution and don’t overdo the alkaline water (like the 10+pH) because, over time, it could lead to acid reflux & bacterial overgrowth. If you’re detoxing or have a major deficiency, then there would be a place for the higher pH waters.
The pH of the water is only part of the picture. You also have to look at the purity and the power of the water you’re drinking.
2. Purity
How can we get clean water in today’s toxic environment? The Environmental Protection Agency has found our water is contaminated with chlorine, fluoride, chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, drugs, and toxins that our city’s filtration systems are not equipped to catch.
Filtration
Here is a pecking order of how to remove toxins from water with a few different ways you can filter your water at home:
- Pitcher Filters. Pitcher filters (like Brita) are a good start to at least removing basic contaminants like chlorine and sediment. This is a great economical option as well.
- Bottled water. Opting for bottled spring water is generally a good option, but take caution with plastics and leaching chemicals into the water when heat is introduced. Also, not very environmentally friendly
- Surface Area Filtration [BEST]. When water passes over a surface area that has carbon or charcoal, it will remove the impurities & keep a good pH level without removing the minerals & energy! The only downside is the price tag for one of these systems.
- Reverse Osmosis. This type will have a deeper filtration and will remove a lot more in terms of drugs, microbes & pesticides – but be aware, it will also remove beneficial minerals as well.
3. Power
You’ll want to energize your water the best you can – and return it as close as possible to its natural state. Think of a flowing stream of water vs. a stagnant swamp. The energy and movement of the stream are a lot more healthy than water that’s been sitting around, collecting microbes.
Water loses energy by:
- Lowering the PH
- Filtering out the natural minerals
- Distilling (use for detoxification only – not on a regular basis)
Water gains energy by:
- Adding motion to the water (by simply swirling it in its container)
- Adding greens (minerals) to drive energy into the water & cells
- Choosing spring water when purchasing bottled
In summary, get 1/2 your body weight (in ounces) of water in on a daily basis, make sure it’s quality water by paying attention to the PH (you want it more alkaline), and add in some level of filtration (the best that fits your budget) and pay attention to the power of the water by adding greens powder or by adding motion back to protect those minerals!
