2 Tbsp Soothes a Sore Throat and Cough | Winter Sore Throat Tea
Share
This 2-tablespoon elixir can knock out a sore throat, congestion, or cold. You’re going to want to keep this one in the fridge during the winter!
These are the 4 natural ingredients that you use in order to make the best winter tea for your sore throat.
Lemon
Lemons are loaded with vitamin C and bioflavonoids, which will help kill viruses.
Lemons are also high in B vitamins and electrolytes, which are going to help increase your energy.
They’re also going to help with fluid management, and are one of the most nutrient-dense fruits that don’t spike your blood sugar levels.
Honey
Honey has some sugar in it, but it’s fantastic when it comes to sore throats and coughs.
In fact, research shows that it’s more effective at suppressing coughs than cough syrup, and it doesn’t have any side effects!
Honey soothes your throat and is anti-allergenic, so if there are microbes in the air, it’ll help your body fight them off.
When you get honey, you want to make sure you’re getting it raw and local.
That means it’s not processed to lose all of its good phytonutrients. Plus, when it’s local, it’s going to help you fight the specific pollen and allergens in your area.
Ginger
You can get a ginger root and just shave a bit off and get a huge benefit.
Ginger is antimicrobial and antiviral, and it’s especially effective against upper respiratory viruses.
Ginger has also been shown to reduce your risk of cancer, and to help lower cholesterol and blood pressure.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon is antimicrobial, antiviral, and antifungal. It’s fantastic for helping bolster the immune system, lowering blood sugar levels, and supporting healthy blood pressure and blood vessels.
On top of that, cinnamon is a great anti-inflammatory, so when you are congested in the chest, throat, or lungs, it can help counter that!
Recipe
If you mix these all together, just two tablespoons is going to give you all of those benefits. Here’s how to make it:
- Slice 1-2 lemons into slices.
- Put slices in a 12-16 ounce jar.
- Shave off quarter-sized ginger root slices into the jar.
- Put a cup of raw local honey in the jar to cover the ginger and lemon.
- Sprinkle organic cinnamon on top.
- Put the jar in the fridge.
- Take two tablespoons of the mixture when needed and put it into a teacup.
- Pour boiling water over the top.
Summary
This is going to be a great throat-soothing tea for you to breathe in and drink.
You’re going to get all of the antiviral and antifungal properties, and you can keep it right in your fridge!
You can make it in minutes, as quickly as you can boil some water.
