One Vitamin You’ve Never Heard Of Can Keep You From Getting Sick
Share
Did you know that our bodies need a specific vitamin to function properly? No, I’m not talking about Vitamin C or D – I’m talking about Vitamin P. You may have never even heard of it before, but it’s a very valuable nutrient.
In this blog, I’ll cover what Vitamin P is, and how it can protect our bodies from getting sick when viruses and infections invade.
What Happens When a Virus Enters Your Body
When a virus enters your cells and starts to make you sick, your body has to deliver nutrients that are going to help stop the virus from replicating. If the virus replicates, your sickness progresses and worsens.
Zinc needs to come into the cells and stop viral replication. It’s very good at doing this, but it can’t do it alone. Zinc needs a zinc ionophore, which shuttles zinc into the cell to stop the virus.
There are a lot of drugs that try to transport zinc, such as chloroquine. These drugs do aid zinc in crossing the cell membrane, but they can have harmful side effects.
Vitamin P (Quercetin)
The best alternative to these drugs is vitamin P. Vitamin P is a group of bioflavonoids, which are phytonutrients that come from fruits & vegetables. You may know vitamin P by its alternative name, quercetin.
Quercetin is a zinc ionophore that helps stop the replication of viruses. Some great food sources of quercetin include:
- Kale
- Cranberries
- Cherries
- Apples
- Oranges
- Onions
- Lemons
- Limes
- Broccoli
- Tomatoes
If you plan on taking zinc supplements, you should take 10-50 milligrams, but it has to be taken with quercetin to be truly effective.
Benefits of Quercetin
Reduces Inflammation
Inflammation is the body’s natural response to stress and injury, but lingering, chronic inflammation is a problem. Quercetin can help reduce the amount of inflammation in your body.
Reduces the Risk of Cancer
Diets that are high in bioflavonoids like quercetin can lower the risk of cancers, including prostate cancer.
Allergy Relief
Quercetin has antihistamine properties that keep your cells from triggering allergic responses and reactions.
My allergen support contains higher doses of quercetin, because it’s designed to be used during a short period of time. It also contains other powerful antihistamines like nettle leaves, and provides a natural solution to allergies.
Lessens the Risk of Neurological Disorders
It has been shown that quercetin and other bioflavonoids that come from food are correlated with higher mental abilities, especially as we get older.
They lower the likelihood of developing certain neurological conditions like Alzeimer’s and dementia.
Lowers The Risk Of Heart Disease
Heart disease is the #1 killer of Americans. It’s closely linked with high cholesterol and blood pressure. Fortunately, it’s believed that quercetin can improve the health of your blood vessels.
Quercetin may also lower blood pressure, and long term absorption leads to lower cholesterol levels.
Prevents Infectious Disease
Quercetin is a must when it comes to our immune health. It has known antibacterial properties and can fend off infections and viruses.
Quercetin Dosage
If you’re taking medications like antibiotics, cyclosporin, or liver medications, you should talk to your doctor to make sure you’re not getting too much quercetin.
The only time I recommend a huge dose of quercetin is during a major allergic response. That means 200-600 milligrams of quercetin.
When it comes to fighting viruses, 20-100 milligrams of quercetin is a fantastic dose, and you’re not going to have any side effects from it.
Immune Defense Protocol
Quercetin and vitamin C must be taken together to ensure proper absorption. As long as you’re fully absorbing the quercetin you’re taking in, you’ll receive all of the benefits from it.
Vitamin D is going to help your immune response, and it can be taken with zinc to work even better.
I combined quercetin with vitamin C in my high dose vitamin C powder, and combined vitamin D and zinc together in my vitamin D powder.
When you start to understand how these vitamins work together, it unlocks their healing potential.
Summary
Quercetin might just be the immune-boosting nutrient that you need, and you can get it from delicious fruits, onions, and kale. You can also take it as a supplement, but be sure to combine it with vitamin C.
If you need extra support to bolster your defense against allergies, check out my allergen support, which has vitamin C, quercetin, and zinc.
It’s important to note that I think you should stop taking vitamin D altogether until you’ve watched my video on how to take it properly here.
