You May Never Drink Soda Again After Reading This! What to Drink Instead
Share
Americans eat 150 pounds of sugar in a year, and most of that comes from your drinks.
Most of you are lacking in good-quality salt, minerals, and electrolytes, so you’re not actually absorbing the stuff you drink anyway, especially the water.
Today I’m going to walk you through the most popular sugary drinks that people are drinking in America, and some healthy, sugar-free alternatives.
Most Popular Sugary Drinks In America
- Mountain Dew
- Coca Cola
- Gatorade
- Coffee Creamer
- Bottled Coffee Drinks
- Chocolate Milk
- Red Bull
- Coconut Milk
- Vitamin Water
- Kombucha
- Green Juices
A lot of these have so much sugar in them, it’s amazing that they’re still legal!
Soda Alternatives
If you’re looking for better alternatives to soda, here’s what you can have instead.
A Stevia-sweetened soda is a good option that uses a healthier sugar alternative.
There are also prebiotic sodas that you can drink to build good bacteria in your gut. They’re expensive, but you can get them on sale often.
They’re made with sparkling filtered water and apple cider vinegar, which means they’re going to optimize insulin levels.
They also include raspberry juice and lemon juice, which are great. They do have organic cane sugar, but this is still going to be much healthier than soda.
You’re getting 5 total grams of sugar compared to over 50 if you drink a soda.
Gatorade Alternatives
I actually made my own healthy sports drink alternative, Energyze.
I took potassium, magnesium, vitamin C, and sea salt and put them into a powder form that can be mixed in water.
You’re still getting the same flavor, but it’s sourced from fruit, not corn, which is a big difference.
I also added taurine, which can be found in a lot of energy drinks.
I added 3 focus- and energy-enhancers without using caffeine so it’s not spiking your sugar levels.
Coffee Shop Alternatives
Think about how much money you spend going through the drive-thru every morning to get your coffee.
Even if it’s a $4 drink, that’s $1,000 you’re spending each year to take in a lot of sugar.
I put organic coffee in the blender with some butter, coconut oil, and collagen protein.
The collagen protein has monk fruit instead of sugar, a multivitamin, glucomannan that lowers sugar levels, and milk thistle to help detox.
I use creamer sometimes, but if you’re going to use it, go for non-flavored organic half-and-half.
At the minimum, dairy creamer has to be organic to reduce inflammation.
You can also use coconut, almond, or oat milk, but almond and coconut milk are your best choices.
Coconut Water Alternatives
Coconut water is the same as sports drinks: you’re going to want to drink Energyze instead.
If you want the benefits of Energyze but can’t get the powder, add some sea salt to your plain water, or maybe even some lemon.
You’re going to get the same effects of coconut water while avoiding all of the sugar.
Vitamin Water Alternatives
Energyze is a good replacement for vitamin water, but you can also try sparkling water. There are a lot of different kinds of sparkling water—just be careful that it doesn’t contain any artificial flavorings, and research the company to make sure that their natural flavorings are okay, too.
I actually found sparkling water made with carbonated water and lime juice, so there are natural sparkling waters out there.
Kombucha Alternatives
You can have kombucha if it fits your health goals, but if you still have weight to lose or medications to come off of, I would stay away from it for now.
Kavita is a good alternative that uses sparkling water and is a kefir-based drink.
Kefir is fermented, so it’s going to give you good probiotics. It also has apple cider vinegar in it and is sweetened with Stevia.
Green Juice Alternatives
Green juices are usually a sugar bomb, so I like to stick to brands like Suja because their drinks are sweetened with monk fruit, which is a much better alternative to sugar.
You can also use my greens powder, which I drink every morning.
Sweet Tea Alternatives
When it comes to sweet tea, you’re better off not sweetening your tea at all, but if you do, try sweetening it with monk fruit.
You can also try Stevia or allulose, but allulose can cause digestive distress.
I would stay away from artificial sweeteners like sucralose, Ace-K, and Splenda, because they’re super toxic and can cause neurological issues.
We consume 150 pounds of sugar a year. We can do better.
Most of it is sneaking into your diet through drinks like these, so finding sugar-free alternatives is a great step to take.
