We eat 152 lbs of sugar per year… because it’s in EVERYTHING! Our bread, processed foods, sugary drinks, and condiments all give us that rush of sugar we’re addicted to. We want to be fat burners, but we don’t want to give up the sweet, tasty treats. How can we satisfy our cravings in a healthier way?
Stay Away From Man-Made
All the “man-made” artificial sweeteners, sugar-free and “diet” foods are so incredibly toxic, i’d prefer you eat the real stuff. Diet soda drinkers long term get fuzzy brain, joint issues, allergies and studies have shown that people who choose a sugar-free, artificial sweetener diet, gain more weight over time because it actually increases cravings! Stay away from things like Nutrasweet, Splenda, Aspartame & Sweet n’ Low. Try the following natural solutions instead:
The leaves from the natural stevia plant can be ground down and put into foods to sweeten them. Be careful to make sure it’s organic stevia, because due to high demand for sugar alternatives, there are a lot of imposters out there. Watch out for additives (like actual sugar!) when selecting a natural stevia sweetener.
2. Sugar Alcohols
A good option is sugar alcohols like erythritol & Xylitol because they have a 0 glycemic index (it won’t spike your blood sugar levels). Again, watch the ingredients because Xylitol is made from… CORN, which turns to…SUGAR in your body. You want to make sure your sugar alcohols are sourced from birch instead. Sugar alcohols are great to use for baking as well.
3. Monk Fruit
Another great sweetener that’s found in nature is monk fruit. This is a fruit found in Asia, similar to Stevia, where you can grind it down and form a powder to sweeten food. This fruit has been used as a natural sweetener for centuries!
