How to Eat Healthy [Part 1]

What does eating healthy really mean? We’ll be discussing 2 of the 5 “C’s” of Nutrition today.

1. Cut Sugar

Well, I don’t eat that much sugar. YES, you do! Department of Health & Human Services says that we eat 150 lbs on average per year! The biggest thing you can do to improve your nutrition is understanding what turns to sugar in the body.

Look out for:

  • Bread
  • Grains
  • Crackers
  • Juice
  • Oatmeal
  • Hidden sources ending in ‘ose’

Fueling your body with sugar forces the body to run off that sugar and form fat. It also bogs down your organs, drives up cholesterol and creates a toxic environment of inflammation.

2. Crank Up Fat

Instead of fueling your system with sugar, start fueling it with healthy fat to become a fat-burner instead of a sugar-burner. Learn what’s good fat vs. bad fat.

Look out for:

  • Man-made hydrogenated oils
  • Overheating oils and rendering them rancid

Opt for:

  • Grass-fed beef/Free-range chicken/Wild-caught fish
  • Avocado
  • Coconut
  • Olives
  • Raw Nuts

Shutting off sugar-burning mode and cranking up healthy fats will get you well on your way to eating healthy.
