Walmart Healthy Snacks
Share
If you’re a snacker, I’m going to show you two of my favorite brands when it comes to snacking, and what your healthiest options are at Walmart.
If you haven’t hit your weight loss goals, if you’re still on meds, or you need to lower your insulin levels, snacking may not be the best idea.
You should be cleaning up your eating and having 2-3 solid healthy meals each day.
But if you have reached your health goals, these are some healthy snacks you can try, and some things you should look for when picking out your own snacks.
Churro Strips by Siete
You may not like churro sticks or sugary snacks, but the Siete brand has a lot of healthy options, and these are a good example of some things you want to look for when buying snacks.
The churro strips use avocado oil, while almost every other snack in Walmart is made with canola, soybean or vegetable oils.
Those rancid oils are going to congest your cells so that they hold on to toxins. They will also impact your cholesterol and sugar levels.
Having avocado oil gives the body healthy fats, which is fantastic.
Another thing you want to look out for is whether a food is genetically modified or not; these churro strips are non-GMO, which is what we want.
The churro strips are made with cassava, which is a root that won’t spike your insulin levels.
A lot of other snacks are made with wheat and flours that will spike your insulin.
They do have coconut sugar because of the type of snack it is, but that’s one of the better choices when it comes to sugars.
They also contain pumpkin powder, cinnamon, psyllium husk, fiber, sea salts, and vanilla powders.
There are no preservatives, no weird ingredients, and Siete’s keeping it conscious with healthy fats.
Popcorn by Lesser Evil
The first thing I noticed about this bag was the big organic symbol on it.
That means it’s going to be non-genetically modified, and it does have the non-GMO-verified sticker on it as well.
Another good sign to look for when picking snacks is gluten-free, which this is.
Now, this is still popcorn, so you shouldn’t be having it if you’re trying to lose weight.
If you are going to have popcorn, it needs to be non-GMO.
You can also buy your own bag of popcorn seeds, which is something I’d recommend, because it’s even cheaper than buying a bag at Walmart.
When you cook them, you want to cook with an oil that’s not going to go rancid.
Coconut oil would be my oil of choice—it’s very tasty, and you can add in a little bit of sea salt.
Lesser Evil’s popcorn is made with extra virgin coconut oil and himalayan sea salt, so overall, this is a good choice when it comes to buying popcorn.
Summary
The end cap snacks at Walmart are a good place to get great options and prices.
You can eat healthy foods that won’t make you and your family sick, without breaking the bank.
