3 Ways You Can Eat More Veggies
Share
You might know that eating enough veggies can help support a healthy lifestyle, help with weight loss, and help you feel your best.
But did you know that only 1 out of 10 people are actually eating the vegetables that they need every day?
It can be difficult to make sure that you’re adding enough veggies to your everyday diet.
Between working and running a household, it can seem overwhelming to stop and make changes to the way you eat.
Here, I’ll cover 3 simple tips that you can use to make eating healthier that much easier.
Support System
It takes a village to create a healthy lifestyle. The people that surround you in your life are very important to how successful you are in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
If you’re the only one making an effort to eat well while the rest of your family or even friends and coworkers are eating the foods that you’re trying to limit, that can sabotage you and make it more likely that you’ll just give up completely.
Teaching your family recipes and including them in bringing more veggies to the table is a great way to unite your family and get everyone on the same healthier page.
Change the Way You’re Cooking
The way you cook your veggies can really make an impact on the way you and your family eat.
If you’re making vegetables but they’re unappetizing or they just don’t taste the way they do in a restaurant, then it might be time to try new recipes.
There are many recipes online and on my website that walk you through cooking high-quality meals with vegetables in a way that’ll make your whole family ask for more.
Sometimes all it takes to make a huge difference in your cooking is tweaking small things about the way you cook, like using simple seasonings. Vegetables that are overcooked can often look unappetizing.
Try cooking vegetables like broccoli by steaming or stir-frying them until they are bright green and tender.
If you’re someone that doesn’t like to cook, or if you simply don’t have the time, making a quick salad can be an easy alternative.
Use Up What You Buy
Oftentimes when you buy produce at the grocery store, you’ll pick up veggies that look interesting or appealing, and then you get home and go through your weekly routine without ever using them up.
Food waste is a big problem in America.
Not only is it bad for the environment, but it also hurts your wallet and you.
This is because if the vegetables go to waste before they get used, you’re more likely to be discouraged about trying to get more vegetables into your diet.
The next time you’re at the store, instead of loading up your cart with a ton of vegetables, try just picking up one or two and committing to using them within that week.
Not only will this boost your confidence level in your ability to prepare and eat these vegetables, but it will steadily boost your diet as well.
Try These Tips Today!
Remember, slow and steady wins the race! Changing your diet overnight is nearly impossible.
To set yourself up for success, start small and have some fun with getting more vegetables into your diet.
Trying out a new recipe that you think looks tasty and getting your family and friends involved can be a great way to reframe the way you look at eating vegetables.
