How To Get More Energy At The Cellular Level
Share
Mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell. You might have heard this saying at some point, and it’s no exaggeration.
Did you know that your mitochondria are responsible for over 90% of the energy created within your cells?
This means that the vast majority of all your energy comes from these tiny organelles within each and every cell in your body.
When your mitochondria aren’t working as well as they should, or they don’t have the necessary building blocks to create enough energy, you might feel tired and sluggish.
To help you experience real health, this article will cover how your body makes energy and how you can increase this energy so that it lasts all day.
Keep reading to learn about how you can give your body the extra boost of energy that it needs!
How Does Your Body Create Energy?
Energy creation starts at the very beginning, with the food you eat.
This is why it’s so important to have a diet that’s balanced and supports your body’s nutrition at every level.
The most basic energy molecule that your body uses is glucose.
Your body takes glucose and converts it into energy by breaking the bonds holding the glucose molecule together.
This is what your metabolism is.
It’s the process of breaking down food into usable parts that your cells can take and turn into energy, through various chemical reactions, like glycolysis and the Krebs cycle.
When your metabolism speeds up, you’re able to use up more of the nutrients that your body has stored, as well as stored fat, and turn it into energy.
This is how your body is able to lose weight.
On the other hand, when your metabolism slows down, you might see an increase in fat and the storage of nutrients because your body’s energy production is slowing down.
Different factors affect your metabolism.
Genetics, the quality of your diet, how much you exercise, and age all play a part in how quickly your metabolism creates energy.
What Is the Krebs Cycle?
Mitochondria, which live inside your cells, are shaped similarly to kidneys or kidney beans.
Inside the mitochondria is a folded membrane that has a larger surface area to make more energy.
Outside of the mitochondria, glycolysis, or the breakdown of glucose, is taking place.
The pyruvate molecules that are produced by glycolysis then become part of the Krebs cycle, which happens within the mitochondria.
In the Krebs cycle, chemical reactions break down the pyruvate. This fuels the continuing process of making energy.
With this, the Krebs cycle takes another molecule called NAD and converts it to NADH.
When NAD becomes NADH, it has an electron added in the form of hydrogen, which is what the H represents.
From there, the NADH is used to make ATP, which is the form of energy that your body prefers.
When the bond holding the electron on the NADH is broken, explosive energy is released.
This is used to create a bunch of ATP, which then goes off to give the rest of your cells energy, fueling your whole body.
How Can You Increase Your Cellular Energy?
When your metabolism isn’t making enough energy, you may feel sluggish and tired, as well as experience poor sleep and other symptoms.
In addition to cleaning up your diet and lifestyle, you can supplement your body with the building blocks that your cells need to be efficient in making energy.
These supplements include:
- NADH
- COQ10
- Magnesium
- B vitamins
By giving your body extra amounts of these helpers, your mitochondria will be able to strain less when they make energy in your cells.
That means taking them will help you have more energy that lasts all day.
Get All-Day Energy Today!
If you feel tired no matter how hard you work to live healthily, then it might be time to try supplementing your diet with vitamins and coenzymes like COQ10 and NADH.
By giving your body these precursors to the energy your body makes, you can make it easier for your cells to make an adequate supply of energy, to keep you going all day.
