13 Amazing Benefits and Uses of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)
Share
Apple cider vinegar has a ton of amazing benefits and uses. I’m going to show you 13 of them, and explain why you need this in your life.
1. Lowers Blood Sugar & Insulin Sensitivity
There are studies that show that taking anywhere from 1-4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar a day can help lower your insulin insensitivity by 34%.
On top of that, when you start lowering your blood sugar and insulin levels, it also lowers blood pressure, has an impact on your cholesterol, and improves overall health, especially your heart and liver health.
If you don’t like to drink apple cider vinegar, there are recipes that you can use to make the taste a lot better.
I have a video that covers three different apple cider vinegar recipes you can find here.
I even have a powder form of apple cider vinegar that you can stir into any liquid of your choice.
2. Weight Loss
Apple cider vinegar lowers weight by lowering insulin levels and putting your body into fat-burning mode, which helps burn more belly fat.
Apple cider vinegar has also been shown to make you feel more full. So an easy hack is to take a little capful of it before each meal. This will help your body digest carbohydrates, keep the blood sugar down, and it’s been shown that those that take apple cider vinegar eat fewer calories.
3. Deodorizer
Apple cider vinegar is a deodorizer! Try putting one part apple cider vinegar and one part water in a spray bottle, and give yourself a natural alternative to Febreze.
4. Improves Digestive Function
Apple cider vinegar can help your body break foods down better. I don’t recommend this if you have an ulcer.
However, if you suffer from acid reflux or heartburn, it can help with those. It can also help with bloating
Adding a capful of apple cider vinegar or powdered apple cider vinegar to your regimen could be a great way to reduce those symptoms.
5. Improves Hair Health
Taking in apple cider vinegar can improve your hair health, but you can also use it on your hair itself.
It can remove product buildup, especially in your roots, detangle hair, and add shine.
If you suffer from dandruff, this will be especially helpful.
I recommend mixing some apple cider vinegar and water together, and using it on your scalp in the shower or tub. Let the apple cider vinegar sit on there for about 5-15 minutes before you rinse it off.
6. Vinaigrette
Apple cider vinegar is the perfect vinaigrette that you can sprinkle on top of a salad.
I like to add a capful of it along with an olive oil or avocado oil.
Better yet, my favorite is using it on chicken, tuna, or egg salad. You can mix it with a healthy mayonnaise to add a little kick of flavor.
7. All-Purpose Cleaner
Put one cup of water and a half-cup of apple cider vinegar into a spray bottle.
Apple cider vinegar is antimicrobial, so it sanitizes, and I enjoy the clean smell that it has.
That could be your very cheap all-purpose cleaner.
8. Anti-Aging Agent
Apple cider vinegar has a lot of antioxidants in it, so when you take it in a power or liquid form, you’re getting those antioxidant benefits.
But you can also actually just put it right on your skin as a toner!
You want to make sure you’re not sensitive to it. If you’re not, mix one part apple cider vinegar with two parts water, and then you can use it on your face as a toner.
9. Fly Trap
If you’re anything like the Livingoods, you leave a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables out, which can attract fruit flies.
Apple cider vinegar is the perfect fruit fly trap. Put a little dish of it on the counter. and maybe add a bit of dish soap to trap the flies when they land on it.
Those fruit flies will be attracted to it as soon, and as soon as they hit it, they’ll be trapped.
It’s a good way to get rid of them if they’re bothering you by flying around.
10. Fruit Wash
If you consume a lot of fresh fruit, especially strawberries and blueberries, you need to wash it.
One simple thing you can do is fill a larger dish or bowl with water. Then, put a half-cup of apple cider vinegar in it, and submerge the fruit in that solution.
It’ll kill off the molds on the outside and get any chemicals off of it.
Plus, apple cider vinegar kills bacteria, so if there is any kind of bacteria or salmonella built up on the fruit, this is going to eliminate it as well.
11. Clears Acne
You can take apple cider vinegar and put it directly on a pimple or blemish on the skin. Just be sure to test it first to make sure your skin doesn’t get irritated by it.
If you have a bad breakout, you may want to try a cotton swab of apple cider vinegar on it to clear it up.
12. Good For Sore Throats
Apple cider vinegar is great for a sore throat, and you can actually gargle with it. Mix one part apple cider vinegar with one part water and gargle that.
It’s not going to taste great, but it’s antimicrobial, so it’s going to kill bacteria, especially in the mouth.
It’s very good for soothing the throat and killing off any invaders that could make you sick.
13. Food Preservative
One of my favorite recipes as a kid growing up was taking fresh, chopped-up cucumbers and putting them in a bowl with water, monk fruit, and apple cider vinegar.
The apple cider vinegar would preserve them and give them a crispness, and the monk fruit gave them a bit of sweetness.
It’s a fantastic recipe, especially during hotter months, but you could have it all year round.
Summary
Apple cider vinegar has so many different benefits, especially if you’re trying to lose weight. But speaking of cucumbers, there are also 13 incredible benefits and uses of cucumbers. I made a video about those benefits that you can watch here.
