Say Goodbye to Dimples: DIY Solutions for Cellulite
Share
If you hate the look of cellulite on the buttocks, hips, or thighs, I’m going to show you some natural solutions to see a quick reduction.
Cellulite is much more common in women because they carry a lot more fat in the hips because of pregnancy, menopause, or birth control.
Smoking can make this worse, but women need a bit of fat in that area for their childbearing years.
But after their childbearing years, those hormones can work against women.
In fact, the key to cellulite is actually estrogen.
The 4 Layers
Now, you can see cellulite on the surface of your skin, but there are more layers beneath that.
You have a layer of fat right under your skin, and that’s what’s getting you in trouble with cellulite, but fat isn’t the real enemy here.
Underneath the fat is collagen, which acts as a sort of net to keep it in place, and under that is your muscle tissue.
We’re going to address all of these layers and cover some ways to support all four of them as well as the hormone that impacts them the most, estrogen.
What Creates Cellulite?
Pockets of fat form just under the skin and start to ripple the skin, giving it the appearance of cellulite.
This is because of the degradation of the collagen that’s supposed to hold it in place.
The cellulite is emphasized by the weakness of the muscle in that area, which is driven by excess estrogen.
So that’s how cellulite is formed.
It usually doesn’t show up in other areas of the body outside of the thighs, hips, and buttocks, but we can start to look at how to reduce it quickly from home.
Coconut Oil & Coffee Scrub
Rubbing coconut oil on the areas where you have cellulite before bed is great for the skin.
That’s going to increase blood circulation, but you can also do a scrub for further effect.
Each time you shower, you can use a pre-made, homemade coffee scrub on your skin, and here’s how to make it.
I love coffee, and you may not have rubbed it on your skin before, but I use an organic coffee that has moringa in it.
That has even more of a benefit because moringa is fantastic for the skin.
You can use a quarter cup of the coffee grounds, and mix that with three tablespoons of sugar. This is one of the only times I’m going to tell you to use sugar.
Sugar has larger granules, which makes it good from the scrub perspective for getting rid of dead skin.
Finally, you want to mix in two tablespoons of oil, ideally coconut oil in its liquid form.
The coconut oil needs to be warmed slightly, and then you can mix it all together so you can use it in the shower.
I would recommend using it as soon as you get in and then try not to wash it off; just rub it in and leave it on for a couple of minutes.
It’s going to exfoliate dead skin and stimulate blood flow, and the coffee is going to tighten the collagen fiber layer in the skin.
Dry Brushing
Now, underneath the fat cells and collagen we need blood flow to the muscles and to the collagen itself.
So how can we start to improve circulation to these areas?
Dry brushing is my favorite way to increase circulation. Dry brushing is taking a hair brush or a firm bristle brush and brushing your skin towards your heart.
This is a great way to improve circulation in general.
It also exfoliates dead skin, and you can do this on the legs, buttock, or hip area as soon as you get out of the shower.
You now have a regimen that can be done every day. Twice a day is ideal, but once a day will do.
Rebounding
Rebounding is bouncing on a mini trampoline.
If you want to know more about my rebounding protocol, you can check out my video on it here.
It really helps the lymphatic and circulatory systems, especially in the legs and thighs.
It’s going to give you a bit of a workout in those areas as well, which will help strengthen those muscles.
Water Intake & Muscle Strength
Hydration is important for skin health. You should be drinking half your bodyweight in ounces of water each day.
You also want to try to eat more foods that contain water. Cucumbers are one of my favorite foods to increase water intake.
We also want to work on improving muscle strength. Your muscles are weak in areas where you have cellulite.
As we age, we have 2-5% muscle loss, so you’re getting less muscle and more fat over time.
You have to fight that as you age, and it takes specific exercises for the thigh, hip, buttock, leg area, especially for females.
I recommend doing our 10-minute workouts.
You don’t need equipment, it doesn’t take long, and you can do it with proper form led by a doctor.
These challenges contain a lot of lunges and squats.
You can also do squats while on a rebounder so you’re knocking out two at a time. If you squat down each time you jump, you’re working the specific thigh, leg areas.
We want the muscles to go from thinned out to more developed.
These 10-minute workouts are a great way to work on your muscles and keep good form.
Strengthening Your Collagen
I like to strengthen the collagen layer by adding in collagen to the system. I supplement with collagen on a daily basis.
Bone broth is a good way to get collagen in as well.
Different bone broths and meats are going to provide you with collagen, which is very good for the skin.
If you want to strengthen your fibrous layer, I recommend getting vitamin C because it’s a precursor to collagen.
You can either supplement this or eat foods high in vitamin C like strawberries or acerola cherries.
Lower Excess Estrogen
The main thing we want to do is stop the breakdown of collagen, and nothing will break it down faster than estrogen.
There’s a lot about estrogen in my Livingood Daily book, which you can grab for free here.
Xenoestrogens, which are substances that imitate estrogen, are prevalent in our society. Things like plastics and pesticides can be xenoestrogens.
These create a lot of prostate issues and reproductive issues for men, and they create excess estrogen buildup and menopause symptoms for women.
There’s excess chemical estrogen in the body, and the body thinks it’s normal estrogen.
The fall off when you stop producing your own natural estrogen is what creates the menopause symptoms.
To lower the estrogen in the body, we want to stay away from plastics as much as we can, including water bottles, food storage containers, and even receipts from the grocery store.
Fasting & Liver Support
How do you get excess estrogen out of the system?
The quickest way to do this is by impacting the hormone that controls a lot of the estrogen, which is insulin.
Lowering insulin would be the quick way to make an impact and tighten the skin up.
I recommend doing fasting. Rotational fasting is the best way to slowly move your body into fasting.
Lowering insulin is going to lower the estrogen response in your body and remove toxic estrogen.
I would also recommend supporting the liver, which tends to store a lot of the excess estrogen.
The simplest way to do this is with one glass of lemon water each day.
Lemon water contains high amounts of bioflavonoids and can help support liver health.
Fasting paired with lemon water is a great way to detox excess estrogen out of the liver.
Fasting is going to help control estrogen by helping lower insulin.
You can also try adding in some coffee, which is good for the liver as well.
Summary
If you want to learn more about how to speed up the detox process in your liver where estrogen tends to sit, check out my video on it here.
You can galvanize your liver and quickly see results within two weeks of clearing out the liver.
If you can also implement some body weight exercises, you’ll be improving circulation and supporting your skin.
Add in the scrub recipe, and you’ll be well on your way to lowering the cellulite that’s working against you.
Be patient with it, but you should be seeing changes in as little as two weeks of moving in the right direction.
