Do you have osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, arthritis pain, or just lots of inflammation in your body overall (inflamed, stiff, arthritic joints)? There are several small lifestyle changes and natural remedies that you can do for some joint pain relief:
1. Start adding anti-inflammatory vitamins and minerals like fish oil, flaxseed oil, chia seed oil, and turmeric. High doses of omega-3 fatty acids help decrease the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 inside your body. That ratio has to be an ideal 2:1. The problem is that our diets are about 20:1, and that gap is inflammation. The more omega-3s you add to the equation, it helps lower that gap, decreases the inflammation, and allows the body to heal the way it’s supposed to. Omega supplements have been shown to decrease pain better than NSAIDs like Aspirin or Advil.1 Turmeric is another very helpful nutrient/supplement to add to your diet for inflammation relief.
2. Cut out sugar. Sugar is gasoline for the fire when it comes to inflammation. Carbs, bread, crackers, fruits, juices all add fuel to the inflammation fire. If you are arthritic or inflamed, you have got to get sugar out for a prolonged period of time or cut it out in general over a lifetime. Get anti-inflammatory helpers in by eating an anti-inflammatory diet.
3. Take care of your spine. Your spine protects the most important system you have, your nervous system. A bad nervous system and a bad spine mean degenerative joints, arthritic joints, and inflamed joints. If you haven’t had that analyzed, find a corrective chiropractor that can help you with your orthopedic wellness and painful joints. Proper in-office and spinal home care make a big difference in getting relief and getting to the cause of inflammation to help reduce flare-ups, increase range of motion, and soothe chronic pain in stiff joints.
